The Life Group is a vibrant community of believers dedicated to deepening our understanding of God’s Word and supporting one another in our daily walks. We meet every Wednesday at the Midstream Methodist Church campus, providing a mid-week spiritual anchor for our members.
Our gatherings are focused on practical spiritual growth. We intentionally review the previous Sunday’s sermon, unpacking the Bible verses and key themes to understand how they apply to our personal lives and our community. Beyond study, we are a family that prays for one another and actively coordinates our collective participation in the church’s various ministries and activities.
The Methodist Vision for Life Groups
In the Methodist tradition, the “Class Meeting” (or Life Group) is the heartbeat of the church. It is more than just a social gathering; it is an essential structure for spiritual formation. According to the Methodist Book of Order, a Life Group is expected to fulfill the following vital roles:
- Christian Community: It is the primary place for maintaining “true communion in Christian experience,” where members watch over one another in love.
- Mutual Aid: Members are called to be “helpers one of another,” bearing one another’s burdens through prayer and practical support.
- Instruction: It provides a space for instruction in the Scriptures and Methodist discipline, ensuring members grow in knowledge and holiness.
- Service and Stewardship: The group is a launching pad for service. Members are expected to be active participants in the life of the church, contributing to its funds and engaging in some form of Christian service or ministry.
